If you've got something coming up in the near future where there will be more than a few heads getting together, you probably could use some ideas to make it "Rock".
1.)Entertainment
Whether it's a backyard birthday bash or a wedding reception, you've got to have something to keep your guests stimulated. Shopping for entertainment is tricky on any budget, but to get the best value for your dollar, your best bet is to find entertainers with multiple talents or combine multiple fascets of your event-Like a DJ who also acts as Master of Ceremonies who can manage all the party games, announce parties, get your guests on the dance floor, and more. Another really cool form entertainment that you probably didn't think of is a caricature artist. Prices are usually pretty affordable, they're entertaining, and each guest gets a personalized gift that most will keep for a long time...What better way to insure they remember your party? Like any great entertainment idea, you'll have to shop wisely to get the most for your money. There are a lot of artists out there who aren't very fast, don't get very good likenesses or just make everyone look hideous- but find an artist who can really rock them out, who can capture everyone fast, and make them look good, and you have an instant hit at any event. For party caricatures in the Orange County area, check out www.CartoonSlinger.com. They may not have the cheapest hourly rate in the area, but they more than make up for that with speed and quality, bringing the price per piece down to just $6 or $7. That's probably less than you'll spend on food! Which brings us to Party Idea #2...
2.)Food.
Unless you have a huge budget or are throwing some sort of tasting party, don't kill yourself over the food. Yeah, you need to have something to calm their stomachs, but most of the time you can fill a table with munchies and maybe grill up some burgers and hot dogs or ribs(veggie style if you're expecting vegetarians)and you've got it covered. When it come to food, they're first impression is going to be it's appearance, so make it look appetizing, display it nicely and create a nice presentation, but save your money for those things that they will really remember. A larger event may require a caterer, and some venues will include food in the event package, but bottom line, a year from now, unless the food was either or horrible, it's likely to be long forgotten. If you're looking for some really kick-ass, gourmet food for a reasonable price in Orange County, try CreativeCuisine.com. Based in the heart of Orange County, they not only make great food, their presentation is amazing!! The food will look so good, people will hesitate to take the first one in fear of ruining the display, and they can rock your food to any theme, which brings us to...You guessed it...
3.)Theme
Many times when throwing a party, people assume the theme will set itself, i.e. birthday, Christmas, Halloween...and there is some truth to that..but if you really want to rock your party, you need to get extreme- something unique to expand, twist or warp your party's theme. One of the coolest ways to get your party rockin'is with your decor. You can throw a party anywhere, and if the place is done up right, it's gonna rock!! Some popular themes are Las Vegas or Hollywood, pirates, or children's characters (Mickey Mouse, Spongebob, Dora, Superman, Batman, Spiderman, etc.), which are all fine themes, but if you really want to crank it up, you'll add a little extra twist. How bout a White Trash Christmas? Park the mower on the front lawn, and string some really tacky lights around it. Use paper plates and plastic ware. Have a costume party where the guest who looks the trashiest takes home a twelver of Pabst Blue Ribbon or one of those stupid singing fish. I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Another great theme is Heaven and Hell, where everyone dresses up like angels and devils. Divide the party area in half, and decorate one side in black and variations of firey colors, and the other side in white, blue, and gold. Whether you make it classy and elegant or trashy as hell, this theme is sure to mix it up and get your party rollin'. No matter what your theme, you can use unique, custom entertainment for your party! And what better way to get it rockin with...OH Yeah!!
3.)Music
Last, but certainly not least, you're gonna need somes tunes. I don't care if it's some black tie corporate awards dinner with an extravagant budget or a kid's birthday backyard BBQ on a shoestring, you're gonna need some decent sounds to get things rockin'. Music sets the mood for any event, whether it's quiet and subtle soothing background music or a live punk band cranked up loud, you're gonna need something to get the ball rolling and set the mood as your guests begin to arrive. The music can be taken care of as easily as a boom box with CD shuffle or Ipod playlist, or as complex as scheduling multiple live bands. You know your guests, occasion, & budget, and you'll have to decide what is appropiate for your party yourself. If music isn't your forte, find a DJ, live musician or band that will keep within your event's theme...Which brings me to the next idea...

Thanks for this information. Planning to throw a party for my friends at one of local Venues in NYC. Will use your information there. Have never arranged such a party, doing it for the first time and quite excited for it.
